01How much does solar cost in your area?
Most home systems run about $15,000–$35,000 before the 30% federal tax credit, which brings the net cost down significantly. Your exact price depends on the system size — which is driven by your power bill and roof — and whether you add battery backup. 02Will solar really lower my Florida power bill?
In the Sunshine State it usually does — high year-round sun plus Florida's net-metering means the excess power your panels make during the day credits your bill. 03What tax credits and incentives can I get?
The big one is the 30% federal solar tax credit (the Residential Clean Energy Credit) on the full system cost. Florida also exempts solar equipment from state sales tax and has a property-tax exemption, so adding solar raises your home's value without raising your property taxes. Your installer helps you claim the federal credit at tax time.
04Is $0-down financing really available?
Yes — most your area solar is sold $0-down through a solar loan, where the monthly payment replaces most or all of your utility bill and you own the system (so you keep the tax credit and the home-value bump). 05Do I need a new roof before going solar?
If your roof is near the end of its life, it's usually smart to replace it first — panels last 25+ years and you don't want to pull them off in a few years for a re-roof. If your roof is in good shape, you're ready to go. Many your area installers can bundle a roof replacement with the solar install, and the roof portion may even qualify for the tax credit when it's structurally required for the system.
06What happens during a hurricane or a power outage?
Modern panels are rated to withstand high winds and are bolted to the roof structure. A standard grid-tied system shuts off in an outage for safety — so if you want the lights on when the grid goes down, you add a battery. In hurricane-prone your area, battery backup is a popular add-on for exactly that reason.
